M.K. Ranjitsinh

M.K. Ranjitsinh, from the royal family of Wankaner, joined the IAS in 1961. As the collector of Mandla, MP, he played a key role in saving the central Indian ‘barasingha’ from extinction. During his tenure as secretary for forests and tourism in MP, he established fourteen new sanctuaries and eight national parks, significantly expanding protected areas.
