Su. Venkatesan

Thiru Su. Venkatesan is a distinguished Tamil writer, orator, and Member of Parliament from Madurai. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2011 for his debut novel Kaval Kottam, a landmark work chronicling Madurai’s history. His novel Veerayuga Nayagan Velpaari, exploring the bond between nature and humanity, became a literary phenomenon and was adapted for cinema. His ten-volume historical fiction Chandrahasam: A War with No End has been translated into English by Harvard scholar Jonathan Ripley. An authority on Sangam literature and archaeology, Su. Venkatesan is internationally acclaimed for his literary contributions and is widely respected for his advocacy of Tamil language, heritage, and social justice.
