Saranya Subramanian

Saranya Subramanian is a poet, writer, and founder of The Bombay Poetry Crawl. An MFA in Writing graduate from the University of San Francisco, her work has appeared in Frontline, Lit Hub, The Bombay Literary Magazine, The Caravan, Madras Courier, South Asian Avant Garde, Outlook, Vayavya, Kitaab, Scroll, the Yearbook of Indian Poetry, and publications by the Museum of Art & Photography. Her poems were nominated for the Best of the Net Awards 2024. Her essay “The Cockroach and I” was published by Penguin Random House after winning runner-up for the FT/Bodley Head Essay Prize (2020). She has performed and taught at TEDx, G5A, and numerous arts and educational institutions—and writes because it’s what she knows best.
