Jesús Ruiz Mantilla (Santander, Spain, 1965) is a writer and journalist with nearly twenty published books and a distinguished career at El País. His latest novel, Franco y yo, explores Spain’s collective trauma under dictatorship. He is also the author of notable works such as Papel, El encuentro, Ahogada en llamas, Gordo, and several music-focused books, including Preludio, Yo, Farinelli, el capón, Contar la música, and Divos. Beyond writing, he curates and leads prominent literary and creative festivals, among them Festival Eñe in Madrid and Fronteras in Valencia, contributing significantly to Spain’s contemporary cultural landscape.
