Ilke Froyen is Director of the International House of Literature Passa Porta and of the biennial Passa Porta Festival in Europe’s capital. She has been working as a literary programme maker in Brussels since 2002. She has extensive experience as an editor and worked as a literary critic for Belgian Dutch speaking Radio 1, and was a member of the jury of various literary prizes, in Belgium, the Netherlands and Europe. She is a member of the general assembly of the arts’ development organisation Kunstenpunt, of the reading promotion organisation Iedereen Leest and a board member of the Brussels Arts Organisations (Kunstenoverleg) and Bronks theatre for young audiences. In 2018, she was appointed Arts and Humanities Fellow of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
