Anantha Padmanabhan

Anantha Padmanabhan is CEO of HarperCollins India, responsible for the HarperCollins and Collins Learning Divisions in India, reporting to Charlie Redmayne, CEO of HarperCollins in the UK. He joined HarperCollins in 2015.

Ananth began his career in 1992 as a bookseller at the Landmark Bookstores in Chennai (Madras then) and worked there until 1997, before joining Penguin India as a sales representative for South India, responsible for building distribution and retail relationships. Over the next 18 years he held various positions within the sales team, until 2010 when he was named Vice President, and was then appointed Senior Vice President in 2014, in the Management Team of the newly formed Penguin Random House India. Over a career spanning two decades Ananth has extensive experience in developing sales, distribution and marketing strategy in publishing and has also served in various capacities in the Indian Publishing Industry, most recently as Vice President for the Association of Publishers. Ananth is a novelist and his first work of fiction, Play with Me, was published by Penguin Books in 2014.
